Like the forest, the desert and the mountains, the ocean is a place of its own with its specific conditions, challenges and mysteries. The ocean has mountain ranges, deep sea planes and seaweed forests. We think that it is time to gather experts and researchers to talk about this unique collection of blue ecosystems on Earth in an “Ocean-Stream”. What are the unique conditions for research of and in the ocean? Ocean-Streams aims at gathering a wide array of scholars working with ocean related questions within the humanities.

We seek to shift the focus from topic to conditions of research in, of and through the oceans, posing three central questions that will tie all aspects together: What strategies of impact do we have in our research? Do we have an urge to bring forward change? And what are the tactics for change within our respective discipline?
